Wow! what a surprise, i awoke this morning to find that Newsgator are now offering their feed readers for FREE! So you can pickup Feed Demon (Windows), Net Newswire (Mac), Newsgator Go! (Windows Mobile, Symbian) and Newsgator Inbox (Outlook plugin) all free of charge.

It seems they’ve also made the ability to keep all these products in sync via Newsgator Online a free service too, if you’ve never used the sync service of Newsgator Online with these tools, it’s definately worth it if you read news feeds in the office and at home and on the road (with something like Newsgator Go!) it keeps all your read news items in check for you and you can easily pick up wherever you left off. It also offers the ability to be able to share out feeds of your clipping folders, which is really handy for a link blog style thing, the ‘Random Links’ and ‘Cool Stuff’ sections you see to the right of this post are handled by this setup.

I’m a tad annoyed having only purchased Feed Demon & Newsgator Go! in august last year, that now something i decided to support is being given away for free and that theres no longer any value added for me, a paying customer (Update: email support is still covered as mentioned by Nick below, i had noticed this about 20 minutes after my post, but haven’t had time to update till now). Also, someone in the office quite recently (15 days ago) purchased Feed Demon after having me talk up the pro’s of supporting the software for so long, so you can imagine how annoyed he may very well be (Update: As nick pointed out below, he’ll receive a refund, which is absolutely GREAT to hear.)

Anyway, go check them out and grab yourself a damn good free bargain, i do kind of wonder how these guys are going to continue to be able to support these products, but i suppose that comes from the enterprise users paying for their enterprise services.
