Iris, Online Photo Editing W/Java

Wow i’ve been slow and out of the java loop for the past few weeks, but heres a cool applet/html/swing/ajax mashup from Jasper Potts, Richard Bair and Ken Russell.

Flickr Photo Gallery Widget for K2 Sidebar Module

I wanted to use K2 Sidebar Module(K2SBM) instead of Wordpress Widgets, now that’s fine because K2SBM has support for Wordpress Widgets. However, as much as i tried i couldn’t get the Flickr Photo Widget from Silaspartners Flickr Photo Gallery to work, i think it has something to do with K2SBM not recognising the options stuff.

Adjustments to Silaspartners Flickr Plugin..

The silaspartners flickr plugin is great, it add the ability for you to just be able to click an image and add links to it, but it doesnt link direct to the image, meaning it just dont lightbox! I’ve adjusted the file admin-photos-tab.html in the latest version to give me an extra option of direct linking to the medium image and using the thumbnail as the link image.

Gypsy Buff Bars (works w/Before The Storm)

I was always a fan of Gypsy Buff Bars, so since Roggz had brought the Shell and Unit Bars over, i decided to make the small changes necessary to bring Buff Bars over (just because i wanted them that badly). I noticed a bit of a call out on the forms for them.. soo here they are. Roggz, feel free to pick them up and put them with your things on Wowinterface,Curse, etc.

Please note: i havent tested this yet on its own without Gypsy Shell.

JXDatePicker with Time Support..kinda

After reading alot of people battling with the time and JXDatePicker and also facing the challenge myself, i decided to battle JXDatePicker and convert it to handle a JSpinner instead of the JFormattedTextField.

Ok, i’ll level with you, currently.. i did a pretty bad job of this, but i’ll deffinately be proceeding with this further. This was kind of a proof of concept that it could be done this way easily, as i’d been thinking about it for a few days. Yeah i was even so lazy i just quickly built swingx, set the main class as the JXDatePicker and made it webstart for a quick demo.

Future Pinball

WOW! I stumbled across this via another website. If you’re into pinball then this game looks great, not only can you play a variety of pinball tables, but you can create your own in the editor.

Now.. i know you think this sounds kind of corny, (ohh wow u can create ur own table) but damn when you see the tables, you wont be thinking its so corny anymore. It’s free, donations welcomes, it’s Australian made.. what else do you need me to tell you?

Aerith, Java Swing Looking SMOOOTH!

Romain Guy, Richard Bair, Joshua Marinacci & some other swing & java2d programmers have all been working hard towards this excellent application i just found out about today, only screenshots are available at the moment, however these screenshots are enough to make me want it ;) Go check it out, it looks like a photo management application that allows you to store location information against the photo, the locations are then hooked with google maps and well.. yeah go look :)

Aerith, a Very Cool Swing Demo (Really)

GPG, Thunderbird & Outlook

I started to get a tad paraniod the other day (those of you who know me are probably laughing your buttholes off, but thats ok. Annnyway, i decided to implement GPG into my email so i could send stuff to and from work without having prying eyes. Thunderbird was quite easy to implement and works VERY well, all the details and the plugin for thunderbird can be found at http://enigmail.mozdev.org/

Unfortunately at home, i have to use outlook, most people would normally have to deal with it the other way around, but at work we use Thunderbird and at home I need to use Outlook so that i can sync appointments, etc. with my PDA. All the details on how to go about setting up GPG for use with outlook is available at http://www.gpg4win.org/.
